If you are thinking of selling your home during the holiday season there are a few tips that we felt might help you celebrate without going overboard. Here are some ideas to help you along:
Minimize the decorations
You can still decorate your home with some tasteful decorations that won’t distract from your home. A couple of urns in front of your door with pine, ribbon and a few pops of colourful berries can make your home welcoming as you enter. A simply decorated tree and mantle can still be done in a minimalist way so that the buyers’ eyes are viewing your home and not the decorations only.
Motivated buyers
Some buyers use the holiday season for house hunting as they might be on a specific timeline. If they are looking for a home during this time, they are typically more serious buyers. Make sure that your home is available during this time or you might miss out on a wonderful opportunity.
Let the light shine
Have the correct lighting inside and out as it does get dark earlier during this season. Your outside should be well-lit so that your buyers can see your home and have a clear vision of the path to your door. Just make sure you don’t have holiday lights flashing on and off which can be very distracting. Inside lighting should also be on in each room so that upon entering the buyer can see each room clearly.
The internet is always in season!
Just remember that your home is viewed any time of the day or night. This includes the holiday season. You should always make sure that you have beautiful professional pictures of your home. You might also want to keep a seller’s binder with pictures of your home during the summertime also. Our team always has a professional photographer to highlight your photos along with the free staging that we do for all our listings.
Hire a responsible real estate team
Hire a team that will be there for you in case buyers want to see your home during the holidays. Make sure that a team member is on staff during this time so you can relax and enjoy the holiday season. You don’t want to stress too much during this very busy season. Remember even if you do not sell during the holidays, January is just around the corner. January and February are great months to sell your home as buyers may be looking for a home in the late winter before the Spring rush.
