If you are thinking of selling your home this year, there is no time like the present to follow through with our Anne Winch Real Estate Team’s tips for selling your home. Your home is one of your most valuable assets. You may have been waiting to sell and with our spring market heating up, now is the time to get your home listed. That’s why we have put together a simple checklist to help you get ready.
Get a pre-inspection.
You are probably wondering why you would get a pre-inspection done. A pre-inspection will tell you everything you may need to fix before listing. If you have an older home, it is especially important as foundation and structural issues may come forward anyway. So why not find out before an offer is on the table? If you start on the repairs now it will not delay the sale of your home. It will pay off with a faster sale and perhaps you will get a higher selling price.
Get a full-service real estate team!
Now is not the time to be penny-wise and pound-foolish. You want a team that can help with selling, buying, and staging your home. You want a team with experience who knows the real estate market in your area. You want somebody who will have an excellent marketing plan, who will listen to your concerns and will communicate with you clearly. You also want a team that will work full-time to sell your home.
One of the best pieces of advice for buyers or sellers is always to get a credible real estate company. Our Anne Winch Real Estate Team can help you with any questions you may have about selling or purchasing a home. Our name speaks for itself as we have had many years of experience in the real estate business, and we know our market and can help you find the best way to sell your home.
Get rid of anything not destined for your new home.
Minimalism really helps when you need to sell your home. Sometimes an opportunity arrives where you might have to sell your home quickly. If you already have a home that is virtually clutter-free, you are halfway there because you have surrounded yourself with items you love, need and use. It is much easier to get your home staged quickly and, on the market, and sold within days, instead of weeks. If you are moving into a new residence, it may be necessary to downsize your personal items and furniture to be able to fit into your new place.
Pre-pack what you don’t need for the next few months.
Get a start on packing. You will need to pack everything up when you move anyway, so you may as well tackle it now. The less stuff you have in your basement and garage will only make your home look more spacious and not cluttered. Packing will get you in the mood to get your home ready to sell. We also offer a moving package of boxes to help you start packing up your valuables.
Extra tips:
- Don’t pack boxes too heavily.
- Add towels and clothing to fill in the spaces in the boxes.
- Tape your boxes well.
- Get help with packing crates for expensive art or televisions.
Don’t forget the outdoors.
Giving your curbside and gardens a little TLC now will pay off later in the spring and summer when everything is in bloom. Add some fertilizer to your grass a month before you list to make sure the landscape looks weed-free and green. You want the exterior of your home to look its best to invite your potential buyers to have a look inside.
