Spring is here and thoughts turn to selling our homes! We may need to fine-tune a few things first. If you want to give your bathroom a revamp but don’t want to do a major overhaul, the answer may be at your fingertips. Take a look at some DIY ideas and you may be able to save yourself some time and money.

If your bathroom is in pretty good shape and just needs a few updates, here are some ideas:

  • Paint your bathroom a neutral grey or taupe with white baseboards and trim – this DIY can save your around $300+ by doing it yourself.
  • Install a new toilet seat and a few matching accessories like towel bars and toilet paper holder.
  • If your vanity cabinet is a little “tired”, check out the new paints that can add an edge to your vanity. Make sure you coordinate the colour of your vanity with the colour on your walls. (Check with a paint store before your start to get help on how to paint your vanity to give it the professional edge you need.)
  • Install a new mirror. Just replacing a simple item like this can add some “wow”. There are many choices from beveled edges to different shapes and sizes.
  • Replace your shower curtain and coordinate this with your towels and décor of your bathroom.
  • Install a new handheld sprayer in your tub and taps at your sink. You can create the look of a newly renovated bathroom with this simple fix.

If your shop around you can do all the fixes listed above for minimal costs compared to completely renovating your bathroom.

As with anything, you really must take a critical look before you start. If your bathroom dates back to the 1970s with for example, a pink, blue or green-coloured tub, toilet and sink, it is time to renovate! These few fixes mentioned above won’t cut it if your bathroom is very dated.

What may seem like a dilemma to you may be just some simple fixes we can suggest. Before you dive in, give us a call and get our professional advice.
