Selling your home whether it is your first time or 10th time can be a stressful time in our lives. Normally you start by word of mouth or you start checking around for sold signs in your neighbourhood. While these ways can be a good starter, it is always best to do your homework before you sign with a specific real estate company.

Not only should you be looking for a company that has presence in the industry, there are also some specific questions you need to ask to get to know the agent who will be in charge of selling your home. Our Anne Winch Real Estate Team has put together a few questions to get you started about what you need to ask.

  • How long have you been an agent in the real estate industry?
  • What are your credentials and where is your company located?
  • Do you work alone or in a team environment?
  • Do you have a specific geographical area of expertise?
  • How many houses have you sold in the past year?
  • What resources do you use to market homes that are listed with your company?
  • How do you price my home?
  • How do you present offers?

All of these questions are very important when you are looking for a company to represent the sale of your home. Coupled with these questions your real estate company should also be ready to make a presentation to you about how they price your home, market your home and how they will communicate with you. Also, you need to know if they are fully committed to selling your home or if this is just a part-time job (believe me this sometimes happens!).

A big part of marketing your home is also in the staging of your home before it is listed. Our Anne Winch Real Estate Team provides free home staging so that you don’t need to worry about added costs or lost time trying to find a home stager.

Communication is a great part of having a cohesive real estate team. You will want to have feedback on any showings or open houses that you have. Is your agent just a pick up the phone type of person or do they respond via text or email? You want to have the support of your agent to guide you through any questions you may have from the time it is listed to the time the sold sign goes on your lawn.

We hope these questions have made you think about what you need to do when you hire a competent real estate firm. Our Anne Winch Real Estate Team would be happy to answer any questions you have about buying, selling or staging your home. We are here to help and make your real estate process run as smoothly as possible. Give us a call, text or email and see how we do things differently than other real estate firms.
