Decorating ideas for winter showings:
- Keep the cold air locked in between the drapes and window to warm up the room before your showing but remember to open them up to let the light in before your buyers come to your home
- Arrange your furniture so that it is away from cold zones (especially around large windows or patio doors)
- Rugs always add warmth to a room so you can always layer a rug over carpeting to add warmth and colour (think under a dining room table or a larger rug front of a couch)
- Textured fabric on pillows adds a cozy factor to beds, couches, or chairs.
- Choose wood flooring which always adds warmth to a room. It also holds the heat better than tile
- Pick paint colours that are in neutral warm-based hues — even cool colours of blue, grey, or green can now have warm-based tones
Some more tips to warm up your home!
- Reverse any ceiling fans to push warm air down
- Add warm lights to your lamps by choosing bulbs specifically for this purpose
- Nothing is cozier than a fireplace – add artwork to the mantle, position a few cozy pillows, and some candles
- Add flannel sheets to your bed with a beautiful quilt or a throw blanket at the bottom of the bed
- Warm-up your winter theme by adding heavier drapes during the winter
